An interactive journey of love by Sarah Larsen
- Fri, 29 OctWalter Reid Gallery
Kenyan-born; Australian artist Sarah Larsen traveled extensively before settling in central Queensland. Larsen creates abstract, impressionist, and traditional styles utilising an impressive array of media.
She infuses her works with enigmatic wisdom whilst retaining her passion and playfulness.
The memories of an extraordinary childhood in the wilds of Africa, her experiences of diverse cultures during her travels, and the tenacity of farming life in regional Queensland are entwined and expressed throughout her art.
The landscape, and our relationship to it, literally, analogically, and spiritually form the basis of much of her work. The artist invites a more introspective perspective, allowing her audience a chance to explore the painting’s surface unearthing the mystery beneath perhaps as a reflection of themselves.
Mental health concerns, especially ASD, environmental damage, animal welfare, and spirituality are subjects that frequently feature in her works. Sarah derives much pleasure in mentoring emerging artists and assisting them in discovering their unique visual language.
